Mplayit Teams Up With Player X To Launch New Game Service Via O2 UK

Mplayit
Mplayit (formerly Mpowerplayer), being the leading provider of online mobile game discovery and merchandising, announced yesterday that it was to team up with Player X to power online games distribution with O2.
In September 2008, Player X launches it’s mobile service on the O2 network, presenting a formidable try-before-you-buy scheme and flexible billing for customers. Mplayit has joined this team by stating that it will provide visitors to the O2 website the opportunity to try mobile phone games for free, online, using a mobile phone simulator.
This is a landmark deal for Mplayit as it is their first deployment using a major European operator after success with US clients such as AT&T and Sprint, and Israel’s Cellcom.
For social media lovers, Mplayit’s can also be used in networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Bebo. Users can recommend games to others, add favourites to their pages (with the exception of Twitter) and share games.
CEO of Mplayit, Michael Powers said “The web is a highly effective way of bringing in new customers, but it is still
massively underutilised by mobile operators. We’re delighted to partner with Player X and we’re looking forward to working with them to offer O2 customers the best mobile games service in the UK market.”
Tony Pearce, the CEO of Player X said “Try before-you-buy has been a key part of our 100% Mobile offering since the beginning. The ability to try out content risk-free is highly valued by customers. Mplayit’s web-based services bring both playable online demos and powerful new social dimension to the O2 service.”
